Atlantic Engineering Competition

The Atlantic Engineering Competition (AEC) brings together over 150 students from 9 different universities located across the Maritime provinces. The conference consists of 8 competition categories: Senior Design, Junior Design, Consulting, Programming, Innovative Design, Re-Engineering, Engineering Communications and Parliamentary Debate. Students must qualify at their respective university’s competition in order to compete at the regional level. Those who place at AEC move on to compete at the Canadian Engineering Competition (CEC) which brings together winners of all the regional competitions. AEC was hosted by Dalhousie University this year with 24 of our own in attendance. 11 of these students were able to move on to and do very well at CEC, held this year at the University of Waterloo.

The Green Engineering Networking Conference 2019 (GENC) was the 2nd iteration of a conference organized by engineering students at Dalhousie University designed to bring together senior engineering students, recent graduates and industry professionals to showcase emerging trends in green technology. The theme of this year’s conference was “Sustainable Development and Technology” and different companies and organizations presented the philosophies and technologies that they employ relating to the theme. Specific topics covered in the presentations and showcases were: the development of green technologies, the usage of remediation techniques, alternative energy resources, balancing environmentally sustainable methods and industrial development. Be sure to look out for this conference again next year as it’s an excellent opportunity to network and grow professionally!
