BY ALEXANDRA MACDONALD (JACK.ORG SEXTON CHAPTER)

Jack.Org is a charity that trains and empowers young leaders to revolutionize mental health. Each chapter has its own goals based upon the community in which the chapter is established. Our chapter is made up solely of Engineering Students as it is located on Sexton campus. Our focus is to identify and address barriers that Sexton campus students are facing throughout their degree and further. Engineering students face many obstacles that include balancing six classes while trying to squeeze in time for a social life, job hunting and much more. Due to the stresses placed upon Engineering students, there is no doubt that mental and physical health are often overlooked. We therefore aspire to provide opportunities for Sexton campus students to improve their mental and physical health to be in optimal form.

This semester, our chapter will be running many events that will allow students to take time for themselves away from the hustle and bustle of life and focus on their mental health. The events include: Paw Room in the T-Room which will feature trained dogs to help relieve stress and anxiety and biweekly “grab and go” breakfasts on campus with food and drinks such as bagels, coffee, muffins and more! We encourage students to bring their reusable mugs for the “grab and go” breakfasts so that we are all doing our part to help the environment just a little bit more. As well, other events we are hoping to have are a paint night where students can come express their creative side and a free movie night with popcorn! We will have a skate at the Oval to help students let off some steam in a more physical manner with some hot cocoa. Finally, we will be co-hosting a Jack.Org Summit along with the Studley campus chapter! We encourage anyone who would like to learn more about Jack.Org or our chapter to find us on Instagram and Facebook (Jack.org Dal Eng) or find the organization Jack.Org online.
