The Dalhousie Undergraduate Engineering Society (DUES) is an executive committee of student members that have been voted into their governing positions by the engineering student body. These students hail from different disciplines and backgrounds, but they are united by a drive to improve life here at Sexton Campus and help the university support and provide for engineering students.
The members are striving to create a more welcoming community for engineering students on Sexton campus by create smoother transitions between school semesters to ensure that the focus of DUES is on engineering students and not administrative hurdles.
One way in which DUES aims to improve student life is alleviating the strain of the academic workload with their tutoring program! As well, DUES supports student attendance of extracurricular opportunities such as regional and national academic conferences (e.g. the CFES Congress) as well as engineering competitions (e.g. the Atlantic Engineering Competition, the Canadian Engineering Competition). The new VP Outreach has some upcoming plans for social and charitable events to further develop the community here at Sexton Campus. To promote engineering campus pride, DUES has supported Dal Denim in developing jackets, discipline badges and extracurricular badges to show off our school spirit!
Part of being an engineering student involves the significant time commitment to our studies, and so DUES is committed to tailoring their social events to be more easily integrated into the average student schedule. Upcoming DUES events in 2019 include: bowling night, the continuation of Engibeering, movie nights, sporting events, laser tag and more! To keep updated on DUES events please follow their social media accounts or talk to your society reps for more information. There are exciting things happening on campus, and every engineering student is encouraged to participate and stay tuned.
